Johan Huizinga was a historian. He had a fondness for fairy tales and had a great influence on Dutch history. A historian with influence on history. Ironic? Perhaps a little. He published his first work "Autumn of the Middle Ages" in 1919. He was 47 years old at the time. What originally started as a study on painter Jan van Eyck grew into a major work on the late Middle Ages in general. This shows that it never hurts to follow your passions, at whatever age.
